Rosemary-Lemon Vinaigrette

One part of creating recipes and meals for myself, and my family and friends is connecting to my senses with deep presence and patience and honoring the journey of growth from the veggies, herbs or meats that I am so lucky to receive into my kitchen. Here’s a blog I wrote more on the topic of how “Food is Connection”, all about how food interacts with nature, people and environments.

Rosemary is one herb that connects deeply to my sense of smell and touch.

The first home I bought all by myself was located in Las Vegas, NV, and because of the heat, it is difficult for gentle herbs and plants to grow.

Rosemary LOVES the heat, and it is very hardy, and my Las Vegas home had rosemary bushes all over the place! Some neighbors even shaped them into animal shapes. I did not! LOL

Be Sure to Take a Moment

As you prepare the rosemary, be sure to take a moment to breathe in the fresh, woody scent, and feel the texture of the stem and leaves on your fingers before you dive into making this recipe.

Take a breath and honor the hardiness and resilience of the rosemary plant, and let that essence flow into you through this rosemary-lemon vinaigrette. You are resilient.

Things I learned…

I always learn a few things as I prepare recipes. Here’s a list of stuff I learned.

  • It’s still difficult to spell vinaigrette correctly

  • I like lemons tartness, you might explore with the amount of lemon zest and use less if you prefer less tart

  • A fork, spoon or the bottom of a glass can substitute as a mortar and pestle

  • It’s so whimsical to grow rosemary into animal shapes. I’m so glad there are gardeners who can do that!

  • Use a few sprigs of rosemary as greenery alongside fresh cut flowers

When you make this let me know how it went, in a comment below.
