You Make Decisions
You make the decisions. In fact, you make decisions for your entire family. From meal planning to appointments to making purchases, you make choices.
And what about you? How often are you putting yourself first and making the important decisions that are best for you? Without thinking about everyone else?
You know yourself best. And yet, it can be difficult to tune into yourself and your personal needs.
As your life got busier with more commitments, work, family, and responsibilities, somewhere along the way you lost your pizzazz and zest for living life for yourself. YOUR life, to its fullest, like you once did when you were a kid. Remember being a kiddo?
Freedom, vivaciousness, no limits, immersing yourself into something 110%! Making decisions, and let’s be clear, they were the best decisions for you at that point in your life!
Today, there’s many more conveniences that have forced you away from moving your body naturally- things like escalators, computers, cars, and TVs. These conveniences have become so regular, and we’ve become disconnected to making decisions that are focused internally, that it’s almost like we’re just moving brains from one place to the other and doing it without thinking.
Your Body is Magical.
And yet, your body is magical. It’s sophisticated marvelous and a capable marvel!
When you do move your body, often you do it without thinking about it- it is unconscious. WOW! I bet you’re grateful your body can move unconsciously!
The only trouble is, because of years of living in a chair bound, mechanical-convenient and STRESS filled world, your body can become progressively tighter, less fluid, less vivaciousness, and more aches, pains and even stagnancy.
Your body stops feeling connected to itself and its abilities, and to you. You may even lose range of motion, strength, power, speed, balance, and what’s potentially worse, conviction and confidence in your body. No one wants that!
Moving more, in a variety of ways, can do so much to remedy the things that seem to come with age when you don’t move.
AND you CAN do this movement thing! You can become consciously aware and engaged in your beautiful, magical body as you move. Otherwise, it’s just more of the same, as you are now.
When you move with intention and specificity, with deliberation and consciousness, you open yourself up to more possibility. Plus, you’ll be safer and feel more connected to the powers of your physical body.
So, how do you begin?
Checking In with Your Body
You can start by checking in with your body throughout the day.
Like any habit, body awareness improves as you practice and reinforce it, but not in an obsessive way.
Body awareness is simply paying attention to you, and having gratitude for what you can do, no matter how big or small. Body awareness can also mean noticing ways to help your body feel and function better.
Are you moving with control and intention? Can you feel your feet? Which foot can you feel most?
Does your body feel tight? How can you choose something to relieve some of that tension? What do you choose? Why?
The more you begin to treat your body with gratitude, with love and support for all it does for you, the better you become at caring for it, and for what you need.
You Can Begin
You can begin. Say yes to you, now. Yes. It is that simple.
What decision will you make?
